And most of the dross rises to the top nearing the end of the window,  it's always better to get your recruitment done early, more time to get them integrated into the squad.

Not sure about that. January, maybe, but why would a decent player immediately sign for us in June when they might have another 2 or 3 offers in July?

We are also in the situation where other teams can afford to pay more than us. St Mirren. Killie. Assume we'll be relying on the usual free transfers and loans

St mirren and Killie will also be relying on the usual frees and loans, killies signings have been poor so far and liam donnolly going to st mirren isn't a great signing for them either.

Killie have signed about five players to date I think. We've signed no one. Wasn't expecting us to to be fair given our manager situation

To be fair there isn't one player that Killie have signed that I would take for us,livingston are another that are getting there signings done early and again I wouldn't have taking any of them for us.ive no idea about fadinger but I think mcghee will be a good signing for us and for me is probably the best of the lot that have swapped between premier league clubs.

Slattery, Stamatelopoulous and Balmer cost more than St Mirren and Killie have spent in recent years combined.

I get your point but would say on the evidence of last seasons expense on frankly some garbage and crocks then budget is not a problem

As the old saying goes "buy cheap buy twice". Or 3 times in  the case of goalkeepers.

I have it on good authority that Killie are by no means, in a position to pay more for players than we can this season.

They have had to significantly tighten their belts due to the costs of their new training facility and upcoming cost of laying a new pitch.

No doubt Kettlewell will remind everyone about that after every defeat.

Not really sure Watt to make of this signing! (Sorry Grizzly!).

Never really made any impact on me when Ive seen Saints (if he even played against us).

Will need to wait and see what the Saints fans over on P&B think. Although they did say Bair was shite so......

Or wait and see how well he plays for us.

Consensus is he is comfortable on the ball and likes a pass. Struggled with his fitness when he first arrived in Scotland so only found his feet towards the end of the season. Scored against us at Fir Park in the 3-2 game but I have no real recollection of that! Has certainly played a lot of first team games and is still only 25. Would appear to be the right demographic if he has the quality. Maybe our Miller replacement?

Not a particularly exciting signing, about whom I know very little, but that means nothing. We do need a core of solid citizens in the squad though, something we lacked last season.  I wonder if he is a target we've tracked for some time i.e. mainly not of JBA's doing.

I just wish once,,,,, just once, that we’d sign a pacey winger, a Chris Humphrey, a Marvin Johnson, I’d even celebrate a Lionel ainsworth. I know to some folk just now it’s old fashioned football and they are not “in style” but for the purpose of entertainment and getting to the bye line and whipping a cross in….. give me wingers all day long.
