I presume we must have signed another left back who is still to be announced. Otherwise we are pretty short there, with only SOD or Halliday ever having played there before? Neither have the legs to do what Longelo does.....

Koutroumbis started the first game of the season at left back,

I think its accepted he is currently our first choice right back though. Id be surprised if JBA thinks that is sufficient cover.....

Good luck to young Wilson, i understand the reasoning for going out on loan and I think he’ll do well at Raith. There’s a talent there and playing every week will develop him. I can honestly see him coming back a better player. I know a few of you have panned him but I’ve felt the last couple of times he came on he did ok.

anyway, good luck Ewan

Hope he gets as much game time as we expect as Raiths current LB is Lewis Stevenson and he's been almost an ever present last season and this one so far although he is now 37 but still as fit as **** apparently.

Good luck to Ewan. With the right system and carefully managed minutes, he should do really well at Raith. What it means for his long-term future as a Motherwell player, though, I’m not sure.

Scott Burns is reporting that Balmer could be set for a move to Kolding in Denmark.

Best for him and us if he moves on. Manager has sussed it out that he's  a bit limited for us. Making way for someone else he is happier with.

Player swap?

Or maybe just making space for a new defender.

As is said in the other thread. If Balmer goes, and Slattery's injury we need further bodies in.

Left back cover, Center Backs, Midfield

Suppose there is always players out of contract, but the deadline is fast approaching.

Harry paton might still be available.

We have quite a few midfielders, and a few players who can cover in mid (like SOD), so if I had to choose, I'd still be looking at defenders first.

I know it doesn't always work that way, however, as we can only sign who is available and wants to join.

I think if Balmer goes, we sign one centre back. Also wouldn't be surprised if we signed a left sided centre back who can also play left back (like Charles Dunne, except good) so making it one defender brought in rather than two..

Might see a midfielder but with the arrival of Priestman and McGhee able to play defensive midfield, thr manager may feel he has Just for attacking midfield and can move Fadinger forward to it if required...

I know managers always say this but the manager (and Caldwell the other day) made mention of getting the right players. And we haven't signed many jersey fillers this summer. Wondering if that might mean that JBA would rather go with what he has rather than sign the 'wrong' player...

If true, we dont know what has been said behind the scenes. Perhaps it was always the intention to sell him this window, as he was never going to resign another contract. Hearts splashed £1.5/7m on a player and Hibs £1m bench warmer, lets us see what we are competing against.

We do need some more bodies in.

Goalie? If the manager doesn't feel Oxborough is good enough with the ball at his feet...

Goalie has been a priority for me since JBA’s style of play become evident in the league cup opener against Clyde. Hopefully we are trying to move Ox on and bring in a quality replacement. That and an assured centre half top of my wishlist.
