Almost certainly a load of old tosh but here’s some Barry Bannon to ‘Well click bait.

He is a JBA type of player and in great shape for his age. Watched him boss it at the Valley earlier this season and not surprised to see top end championship teams linked with him. Doubt we could afford his wages

I'd love Bannan to come to Motherwell but it makes no sense for him at all. Top Championship clubs want him and he'd need to take a massive pay cut, so unless it's family reasons I can't see it.

I was this poster and still am of the opinion prior to Michael Wimmer becoming Motherwell manager Slattery for the most part was pish.

Weeyin might also be referring to me.

Some players have improved under Askou and I'd say Slattery is a decent option but I don't even think he's a nailed on first choice now.

Fadinger, Watt and Just all go straight in the team before Slattery.

I mean I'm not on to bring the guy down, he's been better recently, but he's our 4th/5th choice midfielder depending on how you feel about Priestman.

Don't worry, I don't keep a notebook of people who make comments I disagree with! I have no idea who posted about Slattery - just that there were many dissenters.

It always surprised me, as he always looked like a footballer to me, and any time I saw his starts for tackles, passes and assists he was usually near the top.

He was also the most fouled player in the Premiership at one time, which suggests the opposition rated him too.

I totally get that everyone has their favourites and preferred style of player etc. but I have to admit that sometimes I'm left scratching my head.

With 30 months left on his contract and Celtic being desperate we are in the driving seat. It will have to be silly money surely for us to sell in this window. Celtic are not a good team and we can finish above them so why weaken us to strengthen them? Strikers scoring goals, with pace are rare.

There is so much assumption that Manwanhise will go to one of the OF. Our media think the OF are the centre of the world. Plenty English clubs will be looking and a couple of rumours that Birmingham City are going to test our resolve with a £4.2 million bid.

A bid of that order would be very hard to ignore because no matter his performances until seasons end its unlikely to generate a return of £4.2 million. Sure his valuation could go higher if we were very lucky.  A cup win wouldn't return that kind of money. A European run could but would need to involve group stage qualification and that's a huge "IF".

Its a real dilemma for the club should these kind of figures materialise, glad I don't need to make the call.

I love Maswanhise.

He has really added to his game and his goals would be difficult to replace.

But if a £4m plus bid comes in for him them he will be away.

Hopefully we can keep this squad in tact to the end of the season though, as I think we have a real shot at the Scottish Cup this season. Especially after yesterdays results.

The sad truth is the OF are the centre of the media’s world in Scotland .  It’s all they talk about as it lines their pockets .

I rather hope we keep him - at least until summer

Not knocking him but I believe that this is partly due to him going down very easily and winning free kicks rather than him actually being fouled.
Not that it’s a bad thing at times but he does seem to do it rather a lot.

Worse than not being able to play the style of football, he didn’t seem interested in making an effort.

Hes looked like that ever since he came to Fir park, the " i dont want to be here look" .

He contributed feck all yesterday, so we effectively started with a man down, he needs to be moved on ASAP.

We are in a very fruitful place right now where if any of our players go they can go for very very good money not the back of the sofa offers Celtic and Rangers think they can get them for.

It feels so so good that we are not having to hedge our bets on a player coming through our youth system and we have 3-4 players right now brought to the club  that can command decent money.

As for Slattery everything comes to an end and this season he has looked like his mind is elsewhere thats not to stay he hasnt be trying just not at the races. His passing is all over the place, seems to slow down play alot, making the wrong calls. So for me if we can punt him now and get someone elses in i be good with that.

Am I recalling correctly that Aberdeen went into Europe as SC winners and were straight into play off game for Europa cup? Loosing that had them Drop to conference league? So pretty much guaranteed “group stage” games as cup winner?

I'm not sure but still needs a few stars to align for that to happy so it still makes the decision to knock back figures around £4 million almost impossible to do. As I said I wouldn't like to make the decision.

Rumours from the East stand yesterday..... JBA knocked back the Aberdeen job. Welsh was pimped to Hearts,Hibs and Aberdeen. Aberdeen met Celtics valuation, but Welsh was not willing to travel. Apparently will be back with us next week and off down South in the summer.

I'd heard that he'd knocked back Aberdeen too. How true it is we will never know but almost immediately after I'd heard the rumours  his name started to drop from conversations / reports in the media about Aberdeen being interested and his odds lengthened to 6/1.

I don't even know if the media believes all the OF stories they discuss - I'm guessing they don't. It's a sad fact, however, that is how they sell papers and get listeners.

Given the lack of options in January, if a club down south wanted to buy JT, I'd be telling them 7 million.

While managers often say what fans want to hear, JBA's comments about wanting to finish the season, and the players wanting to finish the season, to see how far they can go did seem sincere.

But, of course, everyone has their price and career goals.
