I like that.

I can imagine for SK's final message, the players would need to take a seat for 10 minutes to let him finish.

Killie players turned up on Wednesday afternoon for the pre match talk - they’re prob still in dressing room from post match talk 😉

Agree with much of this but I thought it was also the case that later on, when we tried a few times to switch the play with long balls fired out wide to Longelo, it caused Rangers all sorts of confusion. Rangers had over committed players to press our midfield/defence when suddenly we were in behind them and they were in trouble.. JBA actually applauded one of those passes from SOD. Not so much the one that went into touch.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not advocating long ball tactics or missing out midfield. But mixing it up with the odd long pass sows seeds of doubt in our opponents and makes us less predictable. Then again you have to have centre backs that are capable or confident enough to attempt such passes.

Yes that was great when we did try those big switch of plays. As you say it keeps opponents wondering. Sods done well when he came on. He has imo got a good pass in him that breaks the lines. Decent as sub to come on if required

I agree, I think the same with Halliday, good players who are pretty tuned in to how the manager wants to play and can give you a good 30mins. Any longer than that then I might not be so sure.

More observations from me.

1) 10,616 crowd = over 6,500 well fans, superb and be great if that continued.

2) Johnny K crucial tackle in injury time.....awesome

3) the patience and encouragement from the home support. Didn't get on players backs ( including SOD)

4) early days but JB could be a brilliant appointment but knowing us we lose next week and it's back to "aye this passing rubbish isn't working" 🤪

5) hopefully Miller deal can get settled this week and we can focus on getting a few players in

6) Faddy post match a legend

COYW

SOD was superb when he came on. Pinged a few cross field passes about to perfection and managed to noise up one of their lot into getting themselves booked.

Rangers player should probably have check to see who’s throw it was before wrestling SOD to get the ball from him.

SOD is streetwise so knew what he was doing.  Pinged some great passes but makes you think balmer not in plans if SOD brought on before him

Just a shame he feels the need to head to the dressing room as quickly as possible once the final whistle goes.  Understandable given the abuse he gets from some arseholes in our support. Guy might be past his best and no longer a first choice, injuries having taken their toll. . Always gives his best...whether good or bad...and happy to settle for whatever role our Manager asks him to play. Yesterday showed he can contribute when given the chance.

I’ve not been in the east stand in ages but is it that bad? I can’t believe that if that’s the case, we have some utter morons as fans!! The guy always gives his best and never hides.

I agree but I haven't heard that he got abuse yesterday - I wasn't at the game so obviously I can't comment but I personally think him heading off after the whistle is counter productive.

He's been getting stick from people for ages and didn't leave the field - I'm not condoning it and I don't abuse SOD or anyone else but he did the same at Stranraer - and I didn't hear anyone giving him abuse that day.

Do you mean stenhousemuir?

He got hee haw pelters yesterday which was great. That's maybe way he decides to leave after game.

Guy gives his all every game,  not the greatest but never hides

An excellent second half performance yesterday and a point was the very least we deserved and indeed I’m actually a bit disappointed we didn’t win because it would have been thoroughly merited.

I didn’t see the equaliser coming mind you and until it did it looked like the usual Motherwell v Rangers game at Fir Park where we do everything except score and they sneak away with the points while we’re left consoling ourselves with hard luck stories. But it was a great piece of skill from Longelo to create the chance and he finished well when it came back to him.

So all in all it was an enjoyable performance which I can happily recognise because we managed to get something from the game. 👍

I sit in the Hunter and never heard anything directed towards SOD , not to say it didn't happen though

I personally think he is a good man to have on our books , and has been a great servant

Another positive last night as mentioned already was the 10k plus crowd . It was a great atmosphere

I sit in the POD and he gets abuse from a guy who sits just in front of the Director's Box area. Constant. Thankfully that seat was empty yesterday. Shame he missed SOD's contribution though.

In truth it's at away games that I have heard the most abuse. And it is a minority, a noisy minority though. Ross County last game of the seoson as an example.  It's not just at Fir Park that he heads straight up the tunnel. Stenhousemuir match he did the same. Wasn't at NDP for the Clyde game as on holiday but comments on SOL match thread about the abuse he got that day. Folk can deny it all they like, but it happens. Why on earth do some fans boo him before he kicks a ball? Maybe says more about them than it does about the player.

I just feel it is a shame he misses the on pitch celebrations on days like yesterday. His choice I guess, but a shame if abuse is the reason he heads off so quickly. Maybe he just wants to be first in the shower.

Rant over.

Maybe so but SOD played the daft wee tit like a fiddle.

Re SOD two of my mates don’t rate him but don’t give him abuse and every time he comes on i joke with them that they will be leaving as “he always gives away a goal “ - they’ve been awfully quiet the last few games regarding him in the pub afterwards as I talk up his passes, blocks etc. Love winding them up.

Here Here! Have said it for long enough, might be past his best put pulls the jersey on and gives 110% every week, not many players are as loyal to clubs these days as SOD has been to us. You will probably find he will be better suited to cameo appearances this season, he's a great option to bring off the bench for experience to see games out etc...

I actually think SOD looks fitter and sharper this season than he has in the entire time he has been with us. Remember has had periods when he hasnt played or been injured. At his age the small margins can make all the difference. Still dont think he will be a starter but, much like Halliday, he is a good player to have around even just for his experience.

Is he younger than you Joe? I've been on the verge of calling a player a veteran, or past it, then realised he was decades younger than me!
