Playing just further up made a big difference - delighted with today’s win.

I think we look far better with 2 central strikers on the pitch at the same time .

With Slattery returning we may well tweak our formation.

We were poor today yet had the ball in the net 4 times . Not convinced that 2 should have been chalked off

As bad as we were, we were still the better team.

To many passengers today, tho you have got to wonder if the plastic pitch gets into players heads and effects play.  The players also lacked the usual energy.

It doesn't just get into their heads, it's awful to play on and when you don't train on it every week can be difficult to adapt to. When the ball has strange bounces and passes get stuck, things that players do instinctively on grass need a little extra thought to adjust - and that slows things down. Killie's pitch is worse, and if you can bear to watch a game on there, you will often see players having to take 2 touches to control a bouncing ball that they would normally have tamed in their sleep.

Plus, it's easy for teams to make it difficult for passing sides but making sure it's kept dry and sticky.

The worst example of that I saw was at an Accies game where they literally watered the half Accies were attacking into at half time, and kept the other half dry.

Can't get rid of it soon enough.

Bringing slattery on was key,we needed someone to take the ball forward from a central area as it was sideways to many times today, the winning goal came from that and it was a peach.

Exactly .not really poor didn't think but most chances we have given up.

I think our confidence took a knock last week plus astro added to it.

But great result and Livi will give everyone a game there. They really surprised me today

As good as our midfield can be, Slattery makes a big difference.

Watt, Fadinger, Just and Slattery is a perfect balance,

Longello struggled from the start. Lack of energy and drive plus dreadful touch and control. Looked like he had flu or something. JT had one of his off days, which we know will happen. Said was poor after his great showing last week. Gordon was poor for him. Elliot and Fadinger were sluggish.
so about 60% of our outfield players were as poor as I’ve seen them but yet we still managed to grind out a win, which is a big plus for this team.
Thought O’Donnell was decent, Welsh and Ward were good and Just improved over last week.
glad to see Slattery back and getting game time. Should have buried his chance though.

If they are poor and we win the rest of our games 2-1 nobody cares

He looked like a man, whom never having played football, drunkenly agreed to play with his mates. Waking up with a dreadful hangover, and struggling to understand why the fuck he had agreed to something so silly, he didn't want to let his mates down. So, despite his reservations, he put his dad's old Samba's on and did his best to impersonate a footballer.

And fooled no one.

Onwards to Wednesday!

I said earlier in the thread that he looked like he was playing with a pair of flippers on his feet but you have summed it up way better than I ever could 😂.

VAR and the incompetents that are operating it can get firmly in the bin. Never in a million years was that a clear and obvious offside at best. So pleased justice was done in the end. Massive 3 points that should give us a valuable lift ahead of next week.

when the online viewers dont have a clue what VAR is doing, what hope for the fans at the game and game in general.

Would not suprise anyone if those offside decisions were wrong, but not that they will officially admit it. Just as well we won!

I agree with Just header being offside. The other, I was positive the near side player had played Just onside. They flashed up an image but it was so quick I didn’t get to see it.

He looked a mile off at the game, but they seemed to take a while to review it so maybe not. Interested to see both offside decisions back.

What a relief to get the points today. Much needed. Poor game, but I cant help thinking that rubber pitch played its part there.

Agree with most on VAR, I am done with it. I'd like to say "keep it and use it better" but dont have the confidence that the officials in our country will even achieve that.

Delighted with a 2-1 victory , would have been delighted with a 2-1 win before the game

No offence Craggs with my halftime comment , seemed more happier in the 2nd half for obvious reasons

I said before the game would be happy before going to Hampden with 4 points from 6 ,  I'll still say the same , but of course hope we get the win on Wednesday

Absolutely! The introduction of Slattery changed the dynamics of the game. He drove forward and made forward passes that just weren't happening before he came on. So, very glad that he is back.

That's the classic "sometimes you need to win ugly" ...we were so frustrating all over the park today. However we take it and hope for better against Dundee Utd. That victory today was essential no matter how it was achieved.

100%

After all the plaudits for 60 minutes against Hearts, playing Rangers off the park, leading 2-1 against Killie, should have taken something from Celtic and an excellent 1st half against Falkirk, none of which ended in victory, ill gladly take an ‘ugly win’ to get maximum points.

Important win for us in several respects, obviously 3 points but also morale boost for the players and fans alike. Additionally table looks better, psychologically a better feeling when seeing us further up even although points wise it’s all pretty even.
I’m hoping individual performance levels revert back to normal for the next game amd we can perhaps get two wins in a row.
