Dundee v Motherwell 4/02/2026

I keep waiting for this run to come to an end because we have been conditioned by past history into believing these things will never last.

However, with every passing week the manager and the players find new ways to win games.

The squad rotation is allowing us to keep things fresh and maintain performance levels.

Dundee are certainly much improved from earlier in the season, but I think we should still have too much for them.

Another solid performance and 3 points would set us up nicely going up to Pittodrie.

If both teams play to their potential we will win because we are a better team than Dundee in all departments. The level of consistency shown by Motherwell this season is off the scale and I have never witnessed it before.

Thats why the fatalist in me approaches every game thinking "we must fuck it up and play pish this time" and the fact we are at game 24 and it still hasn't happened is truly remarkable.

Even the Aberdeen game I can't get the thought of "we will make an arse of it" out my head and I get annoyed at myself because Aberdeen are fucking honking and again by any measure we should take care of them on Saturday.

The conditioning Motherwell does to your brain over 50 years would baffle any psychologists. 😂

Being a pessimist is the way to go, as you are never dissapointed. Im not suggesting the full on nuclear approach adopted by MJC, but cautious pessimism if there is such a thing is the best option.👍

Dundee aren’t a bad side, they are a better side than the ones we’ve played over the past few weeks and I don’t see this as being easy.

A draw wouldn’t be the worst result but obviously I’m getting greedy and want a win.

A fair summing up.

We'll see what tomorrow brings as that might influence our thinking.

Will be a tough game I expect we'll rotate a bit with 4 more games in the next 14 days the squads quite thin at the moment with all the injuries. It was good we managed to get 25 more minutes into Bjorgolfsson and to see Nicholson return as that gives us a different option to the end of the season. Longelo will come in for JK you would expect as for other changes I'm not sure what Jens will do.

We are still a better team than them and if we have aspirations of 3rd or 4th or dare I say higher we need to win it.

It's not very often we can say it, but if we play or best, we can beat any team in this league.

We just need to be on it from the start and stay on it for the 90 minutes.

I cant recall us being on it for a full 90 odd mins this season. We seem to turn it on for 45 or when we get in front and then go into our shell to protect what we have.

You wonder at what point the rotation stops and we do go for it.

I didn't mean we'd be all guns blazing for 90 minutes - that's almost unsustainable for any team. I just meant we stick to the plan and don't lose concentration for the 90 minutes, even during our protection phase.

Playing the way we do with lots of tempo and possession it can be hard to keep it up for 90mins every game . Celtic at Fir Park was an exception.
