Ok so I’ve had a quick - we’ll not really that quick by the time I’d finished - look at this to see what could happen, firstly up to the split,

Celtic win all their games apart from us - 72pts

Hearts win all their games apart from us - 69pts

we win all our games - 68pts

Rangers win all their games apart from the Celtic game - 67pts

Post split:

we win all our games - max 83pts

Celtic win only 3 games and lose to us and any other team - max 81pts

Hearts win all their games apart from against us - max 81pts

Rangers win all of their games apart from against us - max 79pts

Obviously there are multiple outcomes of which this is only one but if you’re a dreamer, dream on ;)

Note: disclaimer my maths ain’t all that great at times and this could be a load of 🐂 💩

I don't think this can be right. If we win the game in hand v Dundee we go seven points behind Hearts. Beat them twice takes us to one behind. If they win all their other games and we win all our other games, they beat us by one point (my calculations may also be wrong)

Crazy to think we could win the next 12 games, having lost only 3 games the ENTIRE season and still not win the league.

It will not work out like this of course.

Hearts will not win all their other games. 😛

Hearts are dropping more points in last 10 games than the other three, for that reason I don't think they will win the league.

We missed Fadinger today. That’s the first time in a while a team has had a good bit of joy in the midfield against us.

positives were Longelo looking really positive going forward and also our subs looked excellent, they combined really well to help us over the line

Going to be tough in Pittodrie but I think today will give the team lots of confidence going into the cup tie.

As for the league, we are in the mix, no doubt about it. Win our game in hand and it’s all to play for.

Fadinger will be a contender for player of the season.

Slattery probably won't make it into the top 3 midfielders of the season which shows the high standards in the middle of the park.

Correct, the way I’ve written it is wrong, when calculating it I had Rangers winning all their post split games apart from us so Hearts drop 6 points post split which I forgot to add in and also only gave them 9pts to the split instead of 12 which made my post split figures add up - Edit required

You do realise that discusding scenarios after 26 games where we could still win the league is not normal behaviour for a motherwell forum, none of us have any experience of such things, well at least while we are sober and awake, so its not surprising your maths is flawed.

I think its absolutely mind blowing that we are even contemplating it.

I thought those days were gone and never coming back.

Of course Rangers and Celtic have both made catastrophic management appointments this season and allowed Hearts and ourselves to capitalise, but I certainly couldnt see this coming at the start of the season, and Im probably one of the happiest clappers out there.

We are still a fair bit back mind you but if we can win our game in hand and secure a few more good results (particularly away from home) before the split, I think we can still be in touch going into the split where it will be all to play for.
