weeyin
We can, but an away game in the cup against Premiership opposition is never easy.
Orinoco
There pitch aint going to help us thats for sure. Its going to be a battle. We need to be more clinical and continue to have that bit of luck.
Benson
11 games unbeaten at fortress fir park, astonishing, not our best today on a difficult surface and helped by some luck and poor finishing by aberdeen, big performance needed on wednesday. Can we win ? most certainly, will we? I just have a terrible feeling about this one.
weeyin
If watching this team leave fans with fear and terrible feelings, we are in trouble. It doesn't get much better than this Relax. Enjoy. Cup ties are tough. We might lose, we might win. JBA will set us up to play our best. Only one team will win all of their cup games. Worst case, we are back to chasing a European spot at the weekend.
grizzlyg
We will be tired but they will be the same, hopefully a victory and quarter final to look forward to
joewarkfanclub
I think we win this one. Aberdeen pressed us really hard today and we got sucked into attacking the space in front of us leaving us wide open at the back. Jens wont allow that to happen again, so I expect us to be more disciplined defensively and restrict their chances. It will make it a tighter game, but I think we have the quality to get the goal we need. 1-0 Motherwell.

MJC
We’re not winning this I’m afraid. Just can’t see it. Either a narrow loss in 90 or ET or a penalty shootout loss. Whatever happens we won’t be travelling to the Kingdom of Fife on 7th March.

Double headers like this throw up different winners* and especially when one of them is a cup tie. Plus I never, ever trust Motherwell when it comes to cup games. * I am aware that we beat Aberdeen in the League Cup and then in the league back to back earlier in the season, but I don’t see us doing the ‘double-double’ over them. Kmcalpin
I think it'll be a close game on Wednesday, possibly going to 120 minutes or even penalties. There will be no love lost between the players given Aberdeen's cynical approach yesterday and the ref will be need to be strong and consistent from kick off to ensure a fair contest. I doubt if we'll change our game plan much but it will be fine tuned in the light of lessons learned. JBA should find it a bit easier, as he'll now have seen Aberdeen's various newbies in action. I wonder if we'll continue with our long ball experiment. Not sure if it worked yesterday - the idea was good but the execution not always great. Will our tank be running on fumes? There will be some squad rotation in that Welsh will sit this one out and Fadinger will come back in. SODs may also come back in. Possibly one or two other tweaks. I would bring Fadinger in for Slatts. Slatts was burst yesterday and I am surprised he got full 90 mins

I get that. And we have all been programmed over many, many years to think that way. I keep waiting for this bubble to burst and for us to throw in a stinker. But, League Cup semi aside (and that wasnt even that awful for the most part) it just hasnt happened. At some point I think we need to decide whether this manager and this team has earned that trust. If we can win this one, it will be another step along the road......
weeyin
Prepare and execute. That's all we can do, and so far we've been doing it pretty well. Things can happen in a one-off cup tie, but I'd rather be on our position than Aberdeen's right now.
mio
I was more concerned about yesterday due to Aberdeen being an unknown quantity with half a dozen new players in. We struggled at times yesterday but I’m sure Jens will have watched the game over a number of times already and will have sussed out the pros and cons of the Aberdeen side. itll be close again and a 1-0 is all we need but I do have a feeling it might go to extra time. wellsince75
This is a new era for us as fans, previously after winning a run of games we simply knew a loss would come. This season there's only been 1 game we deserved to lose and we did. At the back of my mind I know we might lose here or there but the facts are clear and hard not to expect to win - particularly given we've already won 3x and drawn with them. Let's go win the cup tie - 'well deserved.

That said you don't need to be good to win the Cup as Aberdeen and St Mirren have proved. Both absolute pish and current holders of Silverware.
