Watt was playing for Burton Albion at the same time as Williams. I wonder if he shared some inside info.

Me and lads discussed before that longelo maybe better further up park so could be a williams-longelo partnership but Wilson did look a lot fitter

It’s great to see the defence coming together . A keeper and 3 first choice defenders .

Wilson is not up to the standard we need , hes too slow, and his final ball is average at best he struggled for game time on loan last season and i cant see him getting much game time this year as well.

On the face if it another good signing.

Good youth pedigree, over 60 senior appearances, right age to develop and maximise sell on value.

Hopefully he has the ability to back it up.

Also in a position we have needed cover for, for some time.

Also I don't think he would be comfortable playing out from the back, possibly why JBA didn't fancy him much.

Would need to see what kind of shape he was in and if his year on loan had improved him any. But I agree that on previous perfomances its probably not gonna happen for him with us.

Stunned to learn wilson is only 21 . He’s been around the first team for 4+ years .

 

i can see why previous managers extended his contract but suspect the championship is his level

Given the way that our squad is at present, I'd be happy to keep him. He's not that bad, so if he's fit and lean, he can fill in at left back and in midfield - a useful squad player who won't be costing us much. If we make a few more signings or if he just doesn't fit our style, he can go out on loan late in the window or in January.

I thought Ewan had a decent start with us a couple of seasons ago but then had a few errors and regressed which I put down to his age. Hopefully he can get back to the form he showed to start with.

I think there is a good player in there. I’ve always thought he had good foot skills on the ball and I didnt realise how young he was. He might surprise a few people if he adopts the right attitude amd applies himself to get as physically fit as he can.

Or a squad player at a club like ours. Not every player in our squad can be first-team regular quality, we'd end up with players not being happy that they're not playing. 

There's absolutely a role for a fairly versatile home grown player like him if he's happy to accept that he's not going to be a regular starter. It takes a squad, after all.

For me that would be a bonus, as losing Slattery, Watt and Just has ripped the creative heart of the team out. This will be a big season for Fadinger, Priestman and possibly Williams to try to pick up the pieces.

The manager specifically referred to him as an attacking defender. I would imagine thats where we will see him. It is a bonus if he can do other jobs, but I fully expect a couple of midfielders incoming soon.
