Steven McLean is the ref…. Fkn hell, an utter incompetent

Ever since the Rangers home game when he was booed off the park for letting Rangers away with murder McLean has been at the heart of most decisions that have gone against us. Notably the cup tie at Aberdeen and the recent game at Tynecastle. He called both red cards and the penalty. No coincidence in my opinion. Collum having a wee laugh at our expense by appointing him for Saturday. Seems like we are still being punished for repeatedly calling out their incompetence.

Yes, just another example of the dire state of Scottish football. I'll be very surprised if there is no contoversial decision like a penalty or sending off to torpedo our chances. I fully expect Hearts to exploit his "incompetence"; they will be very  physical but curiously fragile when tackled themselves.

Wonder what the odds are on a Slattery red card?

When I moved to England in the late 1980s, it was almost impossible to find any coverage of Scottish football on TV, radio or in the papers. Every once in a while I got my hands on a Scottish Sunday newspaper and, even less often, if the weather was right in the evening, I could pick up Radio Scotland on medium wave.

When I moved to the US in the late 1990s it was, not surprisingly, even more difficult.

Fast forward to 2026, and not only is the Motherwell game being broadcast live here on Paramount+ tomorrow, the Arbroath v Dunfermline second leg is also on live today.

Technology is grand.

Swithering whether to tell a friend that our game is live on paramount+ tomorrow.
I’ve been afraid to tell him all season, when a game has been on TV, in case we revert to previous pish standards.

Do you think the players or JBA would accept it? I think he's gave them a standard they don't want to drop below and it's definitely higher than our previous pish. I've loved watching us this season

Jens has definitely rattled a lot of Hearts fans by the looks of it on social media. Not happy that he’s pointing out the laws of the game that weren’t upheld in our last meeting.
I know we all have some sympathies to Hearts winning the league ahead of the rangers and Celtic but I really want to turn them over tonight and see McInnes’s reaction. Especially the goading he’ll get from the main stand.
Hearts and Celtic can scrap it out on the final day but a win again both at fir park is my idea of bliss.

I'm not overly bothered how we pick up points tonight so long as we do. Hearts have the ability to grind out results and have enjoyed a fair bit of good luck in the process.  I'll be quite happy if they have 90% possession tonight; play us off the park; are the victims of poor refereeing decisions and we beat them by a freak solitary goal.

This is the business end of the season and its the result that counts.

He is brutal!! Only good thing he done was give goal at Pittodrie after Sutton poleaxed Langfield

To this day, I maintain it was never a foul. Langfield made a complete hash of his attempted save. He missed the blatant penalty claim in the lead up.

I know but being a Motherwell fan for so long it’s hard to not have a lingering doubt even at this stage 😂

I’ll risk it and tell him to watch. I think we are going to win today.

For a team that needs to win to go above Hibs, Falkirk so far have been awful. Mind you Hibs have been very direct and Falkirks luck has finally run out.

It was always going to be what we do ourselves. Into those self entitled twirly mob. Hopefully for once we get those lucky breaks....

Down to eight of a difference now.

Falkirk have been woeful. Hibs have been very clinical.

In all honesty if we don't finish 4th then we cant moan as if we in our last 10 games w 1 d 1 L 8 we don't deserve anything.  That is only if we lose our last 3 league games
