The most appalling aspect of this statement seems to be that they don’t even understand the point of VAR

Mistakes will be made on the field, and subjective calls made in front of the VAR monitor, just as managers will pick the wrong team, goalkeepers concede soft goals and strikers miss from five yards out.

Do they not get that’s the whole point of var is that you do get a chance to review and correct / confirm the decision?  The striker and goalie in their analogy don’t.

They seem to have made the argument that most of us would agree with is that current version of VAR should be scrapped and only reinstated if proper investment and training of officials takes place.

There is that word subjective again. You are right, the SFA don't even understand the purpose of their own process.

VAR is there to remove subjectivity. It allows referees to make a judgement on the basis of fact and evidence.

The referee makes a subjective call in real time. In that regard the analogy holds firm comparing with players and managers. VAR is supposed to remove the subjectivity.

Referees now get a benefit of hindsight that no player or manager has the luxury of having.

Anyway now that the SFA are in statement writing mode, I would imagine they are putting the finishing touches to the statement condemning the pitch invasion at Ibrox in the Cup and we will be reading that statement in the papers in the morning.. 👍

Andrew Dallas has arrived at an erroneous conclusion that was based on probability and an unclear image. On that basis there is no way he should have called John Beaton over the monitor. In short it wasn't clear or obvious. The latter should have stood his ground, no doubt annoying Celtic fans in the process, given that nothing he saw clearly contradicted his initial decision.

No mention either in the official statement of the pitch invasion or the role of Celtic staff in that. Siege mentality.

Three question from Wednesday.

What was the attendance? It looked less than the Hearts game with some empty seats in the Cooper. People not willing to put up with their bile.

I left in disgust when the pen went in. Did the players get to do their traditional walk round?

Any word on damaged seats in the away end?

On second thoughts perhaps not! The Celtic fans are out of control.

Celtic hearts game was still ongoing ie ref had not whistled for end of game and Hearts players and staff assaulted whilst they tried to clear pitch. Failed to do so and then the ref blows up.

So was game abanded on safety grounds? Should at least be replayed in an empty stadium.

What a mess the SFA have created....

The uglies, especially the green ones think that they are untouchable, the SFA are shit scared of upsetting them, so nothing will happen.

You are spot on the whole sorry debacle is entirely of the SFA's making by their failure to take serious effective action against the blue or green uglies, its Scotlands ongoing shame.

The game at Fir Park on Wednesday was effectively abandoned as well after those manky scumbags invaded the pitch and endangered the players and fans. And it’ll keep happening until the SFA/SPFL actually punish them, but they won’t.

Just over 12k but not as big as Hearts.

They did a short walkaround, but it was very subdued due to what was going on in the corner.

Not heard anything.

A fine as a percentage of their turn over is the only way to deal with situations like this.  A 50,OOO fine for a club like ours is massive but to the two arse cheeks would mean nothing. The whole game in Scotland has to be sorted. From refs to VAR . The turmoil at the Scottish Cup game should have been addressed immediately maybe preventing carnage like Wedensday night and today.

What a season for us though the passing straight through other teams and general play has been fabulous .

This is what happens when you give entitled, arrogant arseholes like the Celtic support an inch. They are out of control and basically doing whatever they like with no comeback.

There was no Rangers fans at Fir Park or at Celtic Park today to shift the blame onto for Celtic’s fans behaviour, where Hearts effectively had to take their players off the park BEFORE the end of the game for their safety and straight onto the team coach. That is the second time in a few days that a game has ended with thousands of Celtic fans on the field of play but this time it was worse.

Hearts should be all over this and be shouting from the rooftops about how they had to remove their players due to them being accosted or even possibly assaulted by Celtic supporters. I’m sure Derek McInnes will have plenty to say, he ‘gets it’ he knows what Celtic are.

They certainly are out of control. Pitch invasions with Celtic FC staff joining in; fans being assaulted; now opposition players allegedly being assaulted; and games being abandoned early.

The SFA needs to take strong action but won't. It hasn't even commented on Wednesday evening's goings on.  If it can impose strict liability for pyros then it can do so here. Points deduction required and away ticketing allocations reduced, as they did with us at Dundee. .

Did anyone else hear Tam Cowan today after the match on Radio Scotland? If I heard him correctly, he said he had seen pictures which showed Nicholson had clearly handled the ball  in the incident against Celtic. Of course, I may have misheard him but I wondered if anyone else had heard his remarks?

Strict liability will never be employed in Scottish football because the OT would have to be punished properly. Now I hear of another pitch invasion by Celtic and their officials today  and an alleged assault on Lawrence Shankland.

I'm sure the SFA will be all over it.......

The biggest issue is "subjective calls infront of the VAR monitor.

There should be no subjective calls with video evidence. If the operator can not tell definitivly then it should go no further. Its not a clear & obvious error!

No you didn’t mishear him, he definitely said that he thought it was a handball and therefore the correct decision.

He also bemoaned the ‘media’ for wanting JBA to be poached by another club whilst conveniently overlooking that he hasn’t shut up about how Jens was likely to be tempted by a bigger club since Christmas time. Likewise Maswanhise who he was touting for a big move in January every single weekend while the window was open.

The guy is a bellend.
