Happyhonest
STV reporting we are in negotiations with Toulouse for JBA. If he goes do you think Max could step up? For me he’s got to be one of the contenders for the job full time. Would JBA take him to Toulouse? Other backroom staff? Feels like a big off season coming up to keep our momentum going. would also say I hope JBA realises he should stay here. sorry never saw this was on other topic Edited 19 hours ago by Happyhonest Elsewhere
Stuwell2
To be fair we knew when he joined that he didn’t have a good record of staying long at any of his previous clubs so it’s not a huge surprise but having watched his recent interviews post match and his chat to the players I did think that he might want to prove himself in Europe before moving on from us. MFCL84
I'd like him to hang around for another year, but accept that he'll go eventually, and most likely while his stock is so high. If he does go, he'll go with my best wishes. What may keep him here is the apparent rapport that he has with the club, players and fanbase. Couple that with the control and freedom that he seems to have at Fir Park, and the club's ambition; it may be enough, but I doubt it, money talks, and it'll be a big pay day for him. He may well think that maintaining forward momentum through the second season is likely to be more difficult. - We'll lose some core players, recruitment will need to be very good to replace and improve on what we enjoyed this season. - Celtic, Rangers, Aberdeen and Hibs will probably improve next season. Can he make next season better than this? I hope that, if he does go then wherever he ends up, it isn't in Scotland and he is given the time and resources to implement his philosophy. We and he were very lucky that it all seemed to click so quickly at Fir Park. As for Max, I have no idea if he can step up. The board will decide if such becomes necessary and I have faith in them. stv
I would think that the board will do everything they can to keep him here. If that doesn't work out then they will get as much as they can for loosing him. Can't say fairer than that.

bobbybingo
Tweet been posted by a Belgian 'transfer specialist' (207K followers) saying a deal's been agreed between the clubs, JBA finalising details with Toulouse. Edit: just saw this was posted on Ins & Outs.
Taff
What's the point ? One good season now back to the usual crap , it will always be the same . We get one good season and then we are unable to keep anyone. Demoralising. :(

For me the point is, it's my club. Till death us do part - for better or worse.

The point is he leaves the club in a much better state than Kettlewell, has laid the foundation for future managers to build on, recruited some excellent players who will raise significant funds when sold, assisted in the development of our new training facilities and provided a season of football none of us will forget. Apart from that, a complete waste of time.

We get one good season and then we are unable to keep anyone. Demoralising. We are a provincial club. It's will forever be the case that our success stories will leave us vulnerable to those with more financial clout, bigger fanbases, increased stature. I understand the negativity, but the reality is that if we do well then ultimately we're 'punished' ie loss of best players/manager. For me the difference this time is we are a club on the up. The bulk of the squad is under contract, so you would hope there would not be the usual churn of players. If clubs are interested in our players, we are in a position with many to demand a very decent fee. No need for us to sell for peanuts. Financially, I would expect the club to be in a very good place. On the pitch, we have European football to look forward too and for the first time in a while, solid foundations to build from. Players will be interested in joining Motherwell. Albeit, we will be a stepping stone, but that is how it works. Always has, always will. We have an opportunity now to really push on and I just hope the board do not squander this, regardless of who goes. To their credit, the board have shown an ability to think outside the box with the last couple of managerial appointments and for young up and coming coaches, we'll be an attractive proposition. For me, this is the way to go. We need to move on from the managerial merry-go-round of looking at the usual candidates north and south of the border. Ultimately, I would love JBA to stay, along with the likes of Just, Watt etc, but the reality is they move on to something bigger. As a club, if we show we can do that then more players/manager will be interested in a stint at Fir Park. Essentially, we're a shop window. It doesn't mean we can't continue to build something. It just puts the board under that bit more pressure to make the right appointments and for our scouting department to identify the right players. I'll leave you with this thought. Take a look at Bournemouth. Since the start of the season just finishing they've lost key players like Kerkez, Huijsen, Zabarnyi, Semenyo and Ouatarra, not to mention manager Andoni Iraola leaving once season is finished. Yet through all this they potentially stand on the verge of Champions League football. That demonstrates a well-run club with not just a focus on the present, but always planning for the future. Losing players/managers does no necessarily have to mean a return to mediocrity.

Spot on, its the people running the club that are responsible for recruiting a manager who aligns with their views on how they want the team to play, the development of the club and players, fan engagement and financial goals to name a few. So if JBA does leave then given the changes we have seen this season im confident that whoever takes over will continue where he left off and take the club forward.
