I think he lost the dressing room though when he took his shirt off and challenged the squad to work harder so they could look like him! (Paraphrasing). It might have happened differently to the reports, or it might never happened at all, but there's no doubt a few of the unhappy players went running to the media to dish what they perceived to be the dirt, so they could try and get rid of him. I'm thinking more along the lines of establishing ourselves as a mainstay in the top six, for example. We've finished in the top six something like three times in the past ten years, so establishing a run of finishing in the top six would be progress in my opinion. Continuing to play an attractive, exciting brand of football that attracts fans to the ground is also important. That's mainly what I mean when I say it would have been interesting to see how JBA would have fared in his second season. We've finished Top 6 in 45% of all the seasons played in this format. I think that's pretty good considering there are 6 much bigger teams and maybe another 4-5 similar sized teams. I count 2 much bigger teams and 3 with bigger budgets but not massively bigger.

Aberdeen had 3 players on >£20,000 a week and the average wage being £5000 a week, that's considerably more that Motherwell. Hibs and Hearts will pay similarly.

On crowd and budget, that collection right there should be the default top six. Granted, we rarely see a season where all six of them are on form and performing to their potential, which usually means one or two slip out of the top six, and that's where ourselves, St Mirren, Killie, Dundee etc can take advantage.

Dundee United will be paying about 25% more than we do. However they are a financial basket case.
0Neils40yarder Posted yesterday at 11:21 AM Report Share Posted yesterday at 11:21 AM Rangers, Celtic are monumentally bigger Aberdeen, Hearts and Hibs are massive in comparison to us. Utd act like they are, but not by much. Then its us and the other big 'provincial' clubs

I don't know if they are still as generous, but I doubt when Tony Watt left us he moved there for footballing reasons.

I’ve no idea how they’ve managed to avoid it and stay afloat.HMRC are never away from them.

From what I remember they used to keep shifting their debt around from individuals to financial institutions to investors, without really paying it down.
