Wellsince1976
Hard as it may be, we need to forget about JBA. He`s gone. A new chapter has begun.
Throughthelaces
Can we give the guy a round of fixtures to judge him om. Lets see how we get on against the 9 we are allowed to win against and see how he plays against rangers and Refereeing association FC

That is extremely young in managerial terms and something that has failed in the past at other clubs, Ian Cather at Hearts being the obvious example. The ‘aura’ thing is on point too. Good managers have that air of authority about them, that bit that just makes players sit up and listen to them. It can’t be learned, you either have it or you don’t. JBA had it, just that “I am in charge, I am your leader” about him. AJ? I’m not seeing it yet. In fairness, im certain you said you had a bad feeling about the JBA appointment 😜 1

Happyhonest
Good press conference with the new manager. Came across well. Looking forward to seeing what he can do. on a side note all the best to him and his wife with the birth of their kid. Hope all goes well and they grow up to be a Motherwell player! wellfan
Alfred the Excited. All jokes aside, that was a good interview.

The issue isn’t how old a manager is, it’s whether they have the aura and presence to lead and command the respect of 20-plus other men. In our case, we’ll soon find out. The proof will be in the pudding when they get to the training ground. That's where a manager is judged. Players can tell from how he runs his training sessions, how hard he works them, what he asks of them, and his tactical nouse how effective a manager he is. Aura and presence are definitely a thing, but they only get you so far. Yogi Hughes has aura and presence, but he would very likely immediately lose this squad of players after a few training sessions.
Richie
Turns out Alfie was at Hampden to see Moult score a Worldy lob and Rybo throm hiself about v Rangers. Like that he refused to divulge what was said between him and Jens - Saying it will remain private.

mio
I’ll give him the 2 HB games, if I don’t see improvement from last year, I’m calling for his head.
weeyin
Alfred seems very upbeat. I can imagine that win, lose or draw, his media interviews are always going to accentuate the positive and focus on the progress we make. That will definitely annoy about 50% of our fans.

I have no opinion on him yet. Far too early to tell. Being optimistic and positive is a desirable quality in a manager but not if their interviews merely gloss over weaknesses and failures that are obvious to the fans. Managers also have to be realistic.

We all saw what happened with Russell Martin at Rangers when he had a go at the players before having them onside. I think for Johansson to be negative now (particularly given the injury/transfer issues affecting the squad) would be counterproductive... Ya Bezzer!
Worth mentioning going into the new season. Askou avoided going into the relegation zone in game 9 only when we scored an injury time goal against Livingston. The new manager will need time. Apologies, I wasn't commenting on Alfred Johansson just managers in general.

Managers also have to be realistic. Exactly. Optimism, positivity and championing progress will only work for a manager if it is actually backed up by what is happening on the park. Graham Alexander, albeit who was as dull as dishwater, made a habit of coming out after a loss and a dismal performance and trying to tell everyone that we played well and everything was fine, when everyone could see that it was anything but. That really didn’t help his standing with the support by trying to state that black was white.
wellfan
I prefer pragmatic honesty to pretending the sky is green. That said, it’s still far too early to tell with AJ.
Happyhonest
Any idea of how we played v Ghent? Same as under JBA or any tactical change?
