No, but European football for us is nothing more than a bonus/reward for a great league season. We’re never going to do anything of note at that level and there is no shame in that. It’s great for the fans to travel and as you say make great memories but we’re not ever going to make a scratch in that type of competition. Happyhonest
Proud of the team. To come up against a top side from a top league and give it a right go is exceptional. Especially as we have lost so many quality players from last year. To get the new team up and running and making connections and building rapport is hats off to the staff and manager particularly when we bring In Players and a couple of games later they have had an injury as for tonight going to be hard to play again with ten men and indeed it’s perhaps noticeable that they never really ran away with it until we were down to ten men clearly though they are a very decent outfit hope we an aspire to be like them gers going out is a mind feck does anyone else know of that will affect 4th place being a Europe spot? Hope Hibs and hearts do well in Europe and we can over come them in the league

Obviously it’s good for the club and it’s a big bonus and reward for our excellent campaign last year, but our level is the domestic game. Have a day off ffs, Im glad the team dont take that " we know our level" attitude, our level is whatever we want it to be, play to win every game we take part in and see where we end up. We wont win them all but with the right attitude we can be the best we can be. This has probably been our best ever Euro adventure, 4 great results in Q2 and Q3 and eliminated by a far better team who struggled to break us down until we went down to 10 men in both games. So why not try some positivity for a change instead of your usual negative doom and gloom trolling shite, you might actually enjoy it
mfc
I fully expected to be well beaten over the 2 legs but there's definitely a touch of disappointment with the goals that we conceded and the red cards but there's been plenty of positives to take from this european and what we have seen so far and if we can get a break on the injury front, there's no reason why we can't be fighting it out to be in europe again next season and considering its been another rebuild for us this summer, the players and manager should be proud,we're not even out of august and we have played the best team we will all season. Orinoco
Our players and team can only improve by playing against better players. As i said football gods were against us and we did not disgrace ourselves. That team apparently scored 17 goals from set pieces last season. Giants and a guy who can cross a ball certainly helps. FirParkCornerExile
We now have a squad that looks strong and if we get the boy Kanga this could be a right good season if we get it right in the early weeks to settle us down - and no squad rotations for the Scottish Cup, strongest possible team. With the injuries easing there is alot to look forward too. The game on Sunday is massive for settling us down.
Orinoco
Still think we need a pacey winger who can cross a ball.

wellfan
No shame in that defeat. We can only hope the manager and our senior players have learned a shitload from those two legs.
weeyin
We were unfortunate to hit a brick wall in the play-off round, but we navigated all the legs in the other ties with a high level of competence, despite our concerns about new players, new manager and lack of time together. If we can continue to build on that, we'll be fine this season.

texanwellfan
Can’t believe we are being written off from European football by some oF our fans. We had Jens for a season and AJ has been here 5 minutes and look how much we have improved, whilst dealing with “best” players leaving and big injury list. We may not win a european contest but we are already more than capable of Competing and what a joy it would be to see us competing in league format euro competition. I’d rather have that than the meaningless league cup but I do understand that people would want us to win a league cup. It would be ideal to do both.

I acknowledged that we were beaten by a far superior side and that it was good for the club that we reached this stage. I also mentioned that I was pleased for the travelling support that they got something to cheer about with the goal to make it 1-1. Europe is not our level. It just isn’t. But the domestic game and competitions are because we stand a(n albeit outside) chance of actually going all the way and winning the entire thing. For that reason I would much rather we focused our attentions on domestic fixtures like the League cup than some ‘glamour’ Euro tie that we have no chance of winning. robsterwood
I actually think that with favourable draw and some luck, we could have reached group stage. Would like to think we could have maybe beaten Rangers or Hibs opponents.

There are much worse teams than us in the groups. That's a fact.
Orinoco
European football is a joke. Hearts have not won a game in 90 mins, yet like Celtic find themselves in the league setup. This getting beat and dropping into another competition needs to be stopped. Give the smaller teams a chance of getting the big money to help them improve. 2

No ones writing European Football off, some say its a bonus because we will never win and it is. Doesn't mean we shouldn't enjoy it or celebrate it while it lasts Its a reward for a good domestic season. Would I rather be in Group stage of the Conference League or win the League Cup. Give me a Trophy in the Trophy Cabinet every day of the week. Trophys are permanent, getting fucked out of any competition at any stage is temporary / transitional . In a 100 years time historians looking back wont be looking at European tournaments that we will always get put out of at some point , invariably in the early rounds or indeed wont qualify for all that often, whereas Trophy's in the Trophy Cabinet they will. With the attitude some of our fans have to the two Trophys we stand a chance of winning we should perhaps put in a filing cabinet rather than a trophy cabinet in any new ground / main stand. MFCL84
That was a great effort by the team tonight. Sure, Freiburg are a far better side physically and technically, but the boys dug in, and until the sending off, they were holding their own. If we had continued with 11 on the pitch in both legs, who knows what would have transpired. A great experience being at the game tonight and thanks go to the team for their effort. Let's do it all again next year. COYW 1
