Correct. Generally in these situation The official line tends to be bollocks. We move on, to listen to some Motherwell fans you'd think he was some kind of messiah.  The jury's out whether he was any good or not. We will never know. I'm more pissed about how it upsets our recruitment for next season which is a huge issue for us.

He wasn't a messiah.........he was a naughty naughty boy 🤣🤣

No one of note has wanted this job since Alexander and there are three bigger jobs in the same division that are open.

Hope the club has got a great pitch lined up.

Alexander left almost three years ago.

Get over it.

I know what your saying about Haliday but on the other hand it's wild to be saying it about the only player to not miss a game this season 😂

I hear you Yoshi and no doubt my thinking is skewed by a bias of Campbell,  I loved the effort the lad put in over the years.

And fair play to Halliday for playing every game at 33.  Im sort of expecting him to step back a little next year and play less game but who knows.

No reason now why the release list shouldn't be published. Her Wimmer himself said, before last weekend, that he had a clear idea as to who he wanted to retain. Given timescales no reason now why that list can't be made public. That said, there may be one or two individual negotiations still continuing.

Luke Armstrong going back to Carlisle by the looks of things

Mark Hughes quoted as saying he previously tried to sign him , and if he had been manager in January wouldn't have allowed him to go on loan

A lot of Wimmer’s ‘plans’ will now probably be in the bin, whatever they were.

For me that's a big worry as whoever comes in will have a very short window with no idea of what the team needs re new players and probably be listening to Clarkson, Foster or Obika for advice which gives me the fear.

The actual transfer window doesn't "slam shut" until 1st September, so from that perspective there is plenty of time. Most of the players are off for a fortnight in Ibiza at this point, so the ideal timing would be to have a new man in place early June.

There is a risk the league cup group stages might be a complete write-off as new players and new ideas are put into place, but more important that we get things right going into the new league campaign.

Don’t really care too much about league cup. Would be nice to win it, but for me, it lost a lot once they took away the European place.

I feel differently these days. Most of us have seen Motherwell in Europe. The number of us to have seen us win a trophy is getting smaller all the time. If you offered me third place next season or a league cup win, it's the claret and amber ribbons every time. But that's maybe just me...

I have not seen us play in Europe. Moved over here in 1989. Closest I got was the year Sligo Rovers put us out.  I was home for the dates of the next round 😡

I did come back for Scottish cup finals in 1991, 2011 and 2018 but didnt come back for either of the league cup finals.
Of course, I’d be delighted to see us win a league cup but I’m definitely more disappointed when we get knocked out of Scottish cup than league cup.

You are 💯 spot on I would say

Importance of course is being a top flight club for me

After that

Scottish cup first

League cup second

Finishing in a European position third

I confess to being jealous of other teams walking round Hampden with a cup in the last 15 years or so.

I will finish this by saying well done Alan Burrows and Aberdeen . Saved us from listening about the talk of another treble .  A guy who I went to school with

It's an interesting topic.

A cup win would be great. It's a long season, however, and regardless of European places, finishing 3rd would likely mean a good number of wins along the way providing regular entertainment.

Aye, obviously if we're finishing third then we've won loads of games and this is no bad thing. But in terms of just a straight choice between Europe and a trophy, a trophy please...

Naturally, I would settle for either...

‘Europe’ for us is great on paper but in reality it is us playing two glorified friendlies which either end in anti-climax or utter humiliation. Give me the league cup group stages over that any day of the week.

Winning a trophy, Scottish Cup or the League Cup would be the ultimate achievement for us. We’re never going to win the League title obviously but the Cups give you that outside chance of tangible success and that for me would piss all over any ‘European tour’ and all that crap.

What if we were like St Johnstone and we played eye-bleedingly painful football for a few seasons, won 2 cups, and continued to play eye-bleedingly painful football on our way to relegation?

Or would you rather have a few more McCall like seasons where we finished 2nd?
