He's under contract, which is exactly the right time to move him on. He's surely worth a million quid to someone.

I don't think he was out of the team today because he's moving on - he's got a knock that will keep him out for a couple of weeks

Kmcalpin
If any doubt persisted about our recruitment needs before today's game, then Killie helpfully removed them. A huge couple of days coming up for us that could make or break our season. Clearly we need cover at left back following Wilson's temporary departure. If, as rumours indicate, that Slattery is out for a period of time, then another midfielder is a must. Finally we require 2 new centre backs whether Balmer departs or not. Our defence has largely been ignored in JBA's rebuild but its critical that its now addressed and quickly.

A lot of confusion about his unavailability it would seem. I heard a rumour in the POD yesterday that he'd be out for a good number of weeks. Just a text from someone who said JBA said that Slats had a knock and they had heard that it was possibly McGhee who had the long term injury

Kmcalpin
We might well not get them, but they are certainly required. Our ability to identify and sign them will be a huge factor in shaping our season. A few calls after yesterday for a new keeper as well but I'd stick with the Ox for the time being. I don't see the need for a new goalkeeper either tbh
joewarkfanclub
Would be sad to see Slattery go as we are just getting to see his full potential in a team that plays football. That said, we are a selling club so if the offer is a good one, we cant really afford to turn it down. Hoping it is just a minor injury and not a cover story for a sale, but if we are moving him on lets hope its a 7 figure fee. We might end up being busier in the next 24 hours than I thought! mio
I heard this morning he might be out for a few weeks, not sure what the issue is but it’s disappointing. a centre half and centre forward is required. I actually felt AP did better yesterday and was decent in the 2nd half in particular. In the cameos Hendry has made I have seen nothing so far other than him throwing his arms about in the air when players aren’t passing to him. I’d accept that if he was in good positions but he’s stood static next to defenders,. He also seems to have a poor touch and can’t hold the ball up and is unaware of players in better positions. I’ve not been impressed.

Hendry has played less than 30 mins since he arrived at the club, and you are not impressed, aye OK then 🤦♂️

Has he impressed you? clearly we need to give him time and games but we are all entitled to a view, even if it’s a really early view. on another player, Charles cook has played less time and looks like he will be an impressive signing. Or am in making too early an opinion on him?

wellfan
Hendry deserves his chance to lead the line once he’s fully up to speed with the manager’s system.

You can obviously recognise a players abilities within minutes and judge them accordingly a great skill to have, lots of club managers would love to have the same. I'm more of a wait a few games, see how the player settles into the team, and what if anything they contribute before judging them.
Yassin
22 hours ago, weeyin said: We have quite a few midfielders, and a few players who can cover in mid (like SOD), so if I had to choose, I'd still be looking at defenders first. You think we could play Stephen O'Donnell in centre midfield?

I prefer a good unreasonable snap judgement though 🤣👍

I think we could play McGhee, Just, Watt, Fadinger, Priestman and Halliday in centre midfield and SOD and Sparrow out wide mid. When it comes to central defence, we have far fewer options - which is why I see that as a priority.
