Thats an unbelievable stat considering we are Motherwell. And it’s unbelievable I hadnt thought about this until today. hopefully tomorrow will extend that stat After the past few seasons where we struggled to address defensive issues, it has been particularly impressive that the coaching staff managed to identify the problems that continued into the first couple of months of this season, and found a way to resolve them.

To be fair, I'm not sure what percentage of that is "if the opposition don't have the ball, they can't score". Not that I'm complaining about that approach...

Not that I'm complaining about that approach... We were spewing goals earlier this season and failing to close out games when we were up around 70% possession. Keeping the ball helps, but there have been huge improvements in our shape off the ball, decision making in defence and sticking to the plan when we are protecting a lead. joewarkfanclub
There have been tweeks, no doubt. Jens alluded in his presser to using "the data" to improve our defensive issues. It just all adds to the confidence that we, as fans, can have in the process. This isnt just some ad hoc anomaly we are witnessing. Its the real deal. I don’t think any manager in Scotland in a long time has achieved what Jen’s has. Teams can go on winning runs, but for me it’s the consistency of our play and the ability rotate players into this system is unmatched. Also the signings have been outstanding. Example being Preistman who I think is a star in the making.

I don't think that's the reality of what happened at the start of the season to be honest Rangers - A draw was probably fair but Sparrow should of won it for us at the end. St Mirren - Draw was a fair result Hearts - Should of won being 3-0 up at 60 mins. Ward had a mare and cost us 3 points Killie - Should of won 2-1 Ward dropped the ball and cost us the win there Dundee - Should of won by a couple of goals missed 2 1 on 1s and JK switched off at the back post for their goal. Celtic - Again should of taken something. Ward gave the ball to Nygren to draw them level and if that hadn't happened we'd of picked up at least a draw. The majority of the points dropped early on where from Goalkeeping errors which to be fair to him Ward has since eradicated

However, when we defend properly and manage the last 20 minutes of games properly, the ball shouldn't be going near the keeper. Regardless, JBA said there were defensive errors that we needed to address, and I believe him.
wellfan
Is today the day we finally give a team a pumping at Fir Park?

Ive consigned myself to the fact we may never give a team a pumping and will win every game 1 or 2 nil. I think we might be just too controlled to hand out a pumping to anyone. On the other hand, its hard to see us losing too many at the other end right now. Of course Killie could have an absolute mare and everything we hit goes in, and likewise, Im not naiive enough to think there still arent mistakes in us, but in general, we are likely to have 65% possession of the ball and win 2-0. Love to be wrong though.
MJC
I can see today being a frustrating struggle for some reason. Either 1-1 or a 1-2 loss

It would certainly be nice to extend their winless run to 17 with a pumping for the ages, but slightly hollow without Kettlewell in the dugout. Stuwell2
I never go to a game expecting a win - that’s the arse cheek’s mentality - but this season I do go with a high degree of excitement and belief that we can win for which I’m truly grateful to the players and manager for. The players ain’t world beaters but they’re committed to the manager and his plan, work extremely hard every game and deserve everything they get but I’m sure that we will have a bad day now and again which will result in a defeat. When that does happen I hope we can still get behind the team and not start being rockets. Hopefully that’s not today and our run continues and an away goal at first park continues to be as rare as one of our strikes scoring a hat trick

mio
My best case scenario today is being 2-0 up at 60mins and big Thor coming on and him getting a goal. worst- that Fat time bandit Dodds smiling at us in the main stand after a draw or worse …..a narrow killie win. I fully expect us to lose some time, and of course, not blind to the fact any one can beat us on the day. I just don't see it with this Killie team right now. Dundee, St Mirren and Livi (with their recent recruitment) would all give me more cause for concern from the teams nearer the bottom of the table. So if we do lose, pin this post and blame me. grizzlyg
Surprised Gordon on bench but Jack and Victor in centre of defence both been immense this season. Could be a case of being patient today but hopefully another huge 3 points. COYW
