  2. Of course he's had the new job lined up for maybe a few weeks and Motherwell obviously knew about it as we've agreed a compensation package. Nobody was going to announce it while we were still not safe from relegation were they. So why not ditch the conspiracy theories and accept he put his family 1st in a far more dignified and respectful way than Kettlewell did.

  3. He's saw the players, saw the budget, saw what the budget gets him, saw Scottish football first hand then said iv made a mistake get me a job at home. Family health reasons etc etc, politicians and football managers use this excuse all the time. Smoke n mirrors he just didn't fancy being our manager.

  4. This is where I'm at. I simply don't know what to make of today's announcement. All I know is that there's more to this than the official statement. Its fair to say that moving abroad for work away from your family is a big decision and MW would have known this when he accepted our job. Previously he'd also expressed an interest in the Bristol Rovers vacancy. That said, I know nothing of his personal circumstances. From P & B it seems that the vacancy he's filling first occurred about 2 weeks ago. It may well be that he was unsettled before that, I don't know. It does seem strange though that he applied for or was approached for the job and landed it in a day or two. All thats as may be. He's gone and we very quickly agreed compensation. I'd like to know though when the club first learnt of his unrest. If it was a week or two ago you'd think that we'd begun preparations for this eventuality. Where does that leave us? Some good posts on P & B about this. The timing is not ideal but when is? I don't know when pre season starts, but would like to think we'll have a new man in place a few days beforehand. However, we're in a relatively good position. We're financially sound; our Premiership place is safe for another season; Lennon Miller's departure should earn us a few quid; the transfer window opens in a good few weeks time; and the squad doesn't need a complete overhaul. Brian Caldwell is in post to take care of administrative matters and Nick Daws will know of the types of player we're looking to bring in and individuals we're tracking or to whom we're talking to. The release list will have been finalised and players spoken to. I get that holidays may disrupt the search for a new man. But, yes, things should be moving along. As for replacements? None of the names being bandied about for vacancies in Kilmarnock or Dundee enthuse me. There is no standout candidate; just recycled names from the old boys club. We need to take our time and undertake due diligence (this time) but have someone in place a week before pre season.

  9. I hope we broaden our horizons again and stay clear of the likes of naismith and docherty.

  10. I'd go along with that Ally. We have a reputation for picking left field candidates so why not again? No Imries, Valakaris, Naismiths or Docherties please.

  11. Alexander left almost three years ago. Get over it.

  12. I have no idea whether the family health issue is true or not, but what is true is that you don't generally stop working under those circumstances. It's perfectly reasonable to want to live closer.

  13. No mention of him in the club statement, so he may not have followed Wimmer out the door. Would soften the blow if he's still committed to MFC.

  14. Correct. Generally in these situation The official line tends to be bollocks. We move on, to listen to some Motherwell fans you'd think he was some kind of messiah. The jury's out whether he was any good or not. We will never know. I'm more pissed about how it upsets our recruitment for next season which is a huge issue for us.

  15. I think club will take their time. Last time no-one saw Wimmer and caught us all by surprise. Gutted as I really liked him and thank him for keeping us up. We move on again

  17. Docherty is supposed to be a coach. 130 goals against in two seasons, what was he coaching?

  18. Is that the same guy that finished two places below us in the league with a vastly superior budget and a natural goalscorer, no thanks. Probably going to hearts with his pal.

  19. It must have been a daunting prospect trying to get a team in Scotland to play football.

  20. Always a risk when you appoint a foreign manager or sign a foreign player especially if they've got a wife and young family who haven't moved with them. At the end of the day family always comes first second and last.

  21. They still make mistakes they just take longer doing it. I'm fine with goal line technology, even automatic offsides but let the referee referee the match. Checking every goal for the slightest infringement in the same phase of play is virtually anti football in sentiment.

  22. The BBC article says he informed the club "earlier this week''. Obviously you don't get a job in a couple of days.

  23. Came in done a job for us I wish him well and we actually played some decent football under Wimmer so best of luck to him. Now the board can't be sitting on thumbs for weeks and weeks as we need to get a move on with transfers and such simple as that.

  24. No one of note has wanted this job since Alexander and there are three bigger jobs in the same division that are open. Hope the club has got a great pitch lined up.

  25. That's kind of my take. This didn't happen overnight. When did the club find out? Had he just resigned because of family reasons I'd have been more understanding, but to have landed another job as well? Compensation package agreed as well. That all takes a bit of time.

  26. At least it sounds like the club wouldn't have been totally surprised by it with chat "of support offered during time at the club". The club should have sensed this was a possibility and been preparing for it. Better now than when he assembled a squad...

  27. The biggest thing that worries me is that it takes us about 30 working days just to decide what colour to paint the walls, by the time we appoint a manger the transfer window could be well into its last days.

  28. Well folks, he did leave his house which is currently getting cleaned. He had moved in with the assistant 4 doors from me which was a business let when he first signed. Not gona lie, i did post 2 weeks ago that i didnt see him hanging around!!!!!

  29. Thats pretty much my view. Yes, it could be improved such as using more cameras, but the real problem is the way in which its being used. If we took it away, the same errors would still occur. There's a huge degree of inconsistency but thats down to refereeing standards, such as we saw with Dan Casey's red card against Kilmarnock for example. Thats purely down to the SFA to sort out. Then there's the issue of time. Currently delays of several minutes are ridiculous, unacceptable and detract from our enjoyment of the game. After all, thats why we go to games. A strict time limit should be imposed maximum 1-2 minutes and if it isn't clear or obvious then the original decision stands. I'd also extend the remit to include some limited categories of yellow card such as mistaken identity.

  33. If we bin VAR we will have 20 errors in a game called wrong rather than 2 or 3. Whether folk like it or not VAR enables the correct decision to be called in 90% of occasions. However it takes far too long to arrive at the decisions. I would strictly enforce clear and obvious error. If a decision cant be called in 2 mins the onfield decision stands. Fans waiting 3/4/5/6 mins for a decision to be called is ridiculous. I would also adopt the English automated tech for offside decisions rather than the cheapo version we have in Scotland. In England they just do not have the carry on we have looking at offside goals.
