No value in signing him whatsoever and not telling me we can't get our hands on a younger version that has the same attributes nah we have enough retained now the rest can leave let's just build around what we have and push on. Tony Watt or Zak Robinson i know who I'd rather have in the team and it's not Robinson.
Yir Elder
I think it's safe to say that the transfer activity this summer will make the Harri Kampman signing purge of 1998 look like a quiet pre-season!

fizoxy
Us fans will always get excited with new signings over keeping known quantities, despite the fact that we could end up signing the Austrian Harry Paton or German Tony Watt. We need squad players, and those two are just that, and ideally we can have a couple of our young players supplement the squad rather than bringing in the likes of Davor and Moses. I'm fine with keeping a core of players from this season for continuity, and also manage the risk of brining in too many unknown quantities. There's no player outside of Miller that I'd care about losing, but none that I'd be furious about keeping either. I doubt we will mutual any injured player, unless we're generous with the payoff.

Keep seeing comments on social media to the effect of there's going to be a complete clear out at the end of the season - that won't be happening According to someone on Facebook tonight Aston is rubbish and Carson is miles better. I like Carson but sometimes I don't know what it is fans want or expect. I don't think anyone would argue that Carson is a better keeper. But ox is not too bad either. Stuwell2
I’m sure Wimmer said on Thursday that we had a squad of 18 signed players for next season, so if we go with a squad of 24 next season then I’d say we’re looking at 6 players coming in who are hopefully starters. Thats pretty much my take Stu. Maybe 7 incoming? Quality over quantity. Yes we need to beef up our attack but we also need to strengthen our defence. Also a replacement, direct or otherwise, will be required for Lennon Miller, taking us down to 17. Let's not forget our wing back positions either. I expect a fair bit of movement over the summer but not a complete overhaul

wellsince75
The base is around 18 players but equally expect some coming/going within the 18. Still to sign. Wouldn't be surprised if Casey/Watt/Seddon/Paton all signed on. Perhaps McGinn as well. Contracted but could go Miller is obvious but suspect likes of Balmer/Robinson/Stuparevic all move on. (if fit) Before signings it could look something like : Ox Mcginn Gordon Casey Koutroumbis Sparrow Halliday Seddon Slattery Stam Maswanhise Subs Ward, Wilson, Watt, Paton , Ross OK base that can definitely be improved with 4-5 quality signings. Certainly need younger legs to come in.

Case in point, how many of our guys would get in the starting 11 of- - McGhees first team - McCalls team - embarrassing to include but Barracloughs starting 11 for playoffs. So Miller aside, and even then he would have serious work to do to get off the bench, do any of our current guys improve any of those teams? Its probably an indication on Scottish football in general rather than Motherwell. Im guessing most teams have been deskilling as the money continues to flow elsewhere. I reckon Ox would be an improvement in goal for Barraclough's playoff team. Not by much maybe, but his early season form was excellent. texanwellfan
Related but entirely fictional and perhaps a separate thread to while away the hours during the close season. We could probably sign a whole new squad of players currently playing, so that we could field a team of ex Motherwell players as the ultimate expression of our penchant for bringing players back to the fold. weeyin
We scored 36 point in the play-off season. No point in having all these superior individuals if they can only win 10 games as a team.
