I also fear we may be keeping Maswanhise..................he s just a waste of a jersey at this point, WTF has happened to him

Sorry but that is just wrong, he was tracking back and making tackles all night, but unfair to say a waste of a jersey.  He will come good again, just needs to score.  He needs to be out wide and not in the middle that is where he plays best

Soft penalty. Obvious dive from slight contact. Expected a red and they eventually gave it.

The officials were biased towards the bigger team and some of their decisions would make Collum blush.

Overall they are a better team, but once we scored we retreated into a shell and stood off them. One or two just never got started. The defence is stronger this year. Strange saying that after losing two goals from cross balls. Going forward is a struggle. To many easy back passes to goalie as those further forward are not offering for ball.

Again i am not having this hoof it down the park aimlessly. Giving the ball away cheaply. Front three need to do more. JT is an imposter. He has blistering pace, but it seems he is holding back. Carrying an injury? Or not interested?

We missed Priestman today.

We won't face anyone that good for the rest of the season.

The team played well considering the opposition who are leaps and bounds ahead. They worked hard and the passing at the back is catching up to the levels of last season. What is a pain is that if our midfield hadn’t left I believe we may have won. You can’t change yesterday so let’s enjoy the next game and maybe goal or three 🤣

Frustrating night especially the second half,we were comfortable then gave the ball away cheaply and within seconds it's a penalty then a sending off, same for the corner that led to the goal,we had possession gave it away then were ultimately punished again.

Good result becomes bad at the death, sickener.

Played some good stuff when we had the ball but loose touches and two absolutely dominant central defenders meant we didn’t give us a sniff after the goal.

Hodge looks a player, which is a big plus. New lad up front doing what you want a big forward to do. Hopefully not an injury to Charles-Cook that forced him off.

While disappointing result, we were playing the Europa league runners up and a team that are almost worth 20X the amount we are worth.
We are also missing key players and still bedding in new players and new manager.
Looking at the bigger picture I think it looks very bright for our season ahead. Hopefully we can go over there and play well and get a decent result.

Gutting to lose the third after all the hard work a man down.

From my view in the Cooper, I thought the guy had just slipped under a bit of pressure. Actually thought the ref was going to reverse the penalty decision until he flashed the red.

Not going to get too down, well worked goal from us against a team several levels above what we will be playing through the season.

Thought we were decent with the amount of games we have played,it was always going to be a bridge too far,new players bedding in,injuries and a team a class above us,with the inevitable exit it will give players some rest time and more time on the training ground, think hodge is a good addition and will do well, the big guy up front is a bit of a unit, can see why gills supporters say he aint a target man, doesnt look like he can jump.

If not for the penalty/red card decision we could have realistically held out for a draw.

That said Freiburg were better than us in every department and I was actually a little disappointed in our performance when we were on the ball.

Obviously we are playing a team a lot better than most of our domestic opponents but there was still too many passes going astray and some poor decision making.

Outside of the goal I don't remember doing anything of note attacking wise.

I thought we defended the 18 yard box well enough and the keeper had a good game but the midfield was basically overwhelmed for most of the match and the forward going players were working off scraps.

Missing Priestman is a big blow to us and without him our midfield doesn't quite have the right balance.

To put it in context Freiburg have an annual turn over of £162 million and we have an annual turn over of £7.2 so that is the scale of the task we had tonight.

Ultimately we were competitive but at the same time I didn't tink we were at our best tonight so it's a difficult one to judge but there are levels in football and we as a club just aren't operating at the same level as Freiburg.

We gave it a go but in reality we were well beaten by a much better team, after scoring a brilliant goal after 2 minutes we never looked like scoring again for the next 94 mins, to be honest Paulsen kept it respectable.

The 2nd goal was a stupid action by Moorman a stonewall penalty, but how var thought it was a red card is beyond me, the officials and var were very poor tonight. A 2-1 defeat would have been a very good result , so the 3rd goal with the last action of the game was a right boot in the baws.

There is no disgrace in being beaten by a much better team, Freiburg are a class above anything we will face in the premiership this season, Ginter is a world cup winner with 51 caps for Germany .

So half time in the tie, 3-1 down and one of our key players wont be going to Germany, we still have a chance, albeit a very slim one so i hope we enjoy it and live the dream for 90 mins..

After we beat Helsinki, it was 4 trophies to play for but this week has been rough and i expect the trophy chase will be down to two by next Thursday.

Not long in and calmed down slightly…. Really gutted to lose that 3rd goal, but there was no disgrace in that tonight. Played a good side who are wise in winning European games. Players worked their arses off.

Really proud of the team tonight. We scored a great goal, defended for our lives and worked our socks off. We limited their chances from open play so its disappointing to concede to 2 set pieces and a penalty. Freiburg are a very good side and deserved to win the game.

But........

The officials were absolutely honking.

Maybe its just how it is at this level, but the amount of shirt pulling, technical fouls and other dark arts going on was ridiculous. Even more gauling then when we concede a penalty and get a red card for clear simulation.

Folk can blame Moorman if they like, and I agree he shouldnt have touched the guys shoulder with his hand, but that doesnt cause the guys legs to collapse. Its blatant cheating and leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

Thought our response to going down to ten men was good, albeit reduced to long balls in Sebs direction (he looks handy).

Overall, we lost a game to a good team. But, I would really love it if we could bloody their nose over there.

Nightmare with the m77 tonight so was just getting in as we scored so missed it….

thought we done well considering, there’s levels & there levels above us

they showed what to do with the ball when they got in advanced positions. We play good football but really wish we’d stop getting into good areas & ending back at our keeper 99% of the time

Agree on hodges, good addition & reasonably hopeful the new boy up front could be decent

Really pleased to see SODs back and when he came on his enthusiasm and energy sparked a bit of determination….. I also liked how the first thing he did was berate WV for standing on the touchline not moving and staring at the sky. And btw the players are getting fed up of WV as well, I saw a few shout at him with their arms out as if to say “wtf are you doing”

as soon as players are fit he’ll be sent out on loan, guaranteed

Let's be honest , if at start we were told 3-1: freiburg we would say probably right. We gave it our best but 3rd gosl kick in nuts.    We at least had moment of joy with taking lead.  SPH looks good acquisition.

Ps. Hope you donated to kilbryde hospice buckets. If you saw lady wearing hospice t-shirt near main stand and 100 club that was oor Mrs grizzlyg

Not that we were going to beat Freiburg but it's partly the same issue as last season. We lack physicality if we've got a couple of more physical players in the middle of the park they probably struggle a lot more in that game, we were undone by set-peices against a very good side but it is still frustrating. Thought the new boy up front worked his socks off as well which is all you can really ask for as a lone St for a team playing with 10 men
