Wee Alpha Posted yesterday at 07:24 AM Report Share Posted yesterday at 07:24 AM Something is nor right just now. Is AJ too rigid in his approach. Has he alienated the senior players and other coaches? Anyway, I'm looking at Dec 5th before a win. A few draws before then and a few skelpings starting with Celtic. I sincerely hope I'm wrong but I've stayed with the team throughout, the Roger Hynd era and the Harri Kampman era( he pissed off the senior players too) Jens would not stand for the dross being delivered or the lack of fight. Who in this team would run through a brick wall for the manager?

Whilst there's no evidence of internal discontent, I did wonder if it was a possible factor in or explanation for some of our better/established players' form dropping off a cliff. wellfan Posted yesterday at 09:05 AM Report Share Posted yesterday at 09:05 AM It’s probably a reductive view, but I do wonder what the players make of being coached/managed by someone who’s never actually done their job. Spiderpig Posted yesterday at 09:43 AM Report Share Posted yesterday at 09:43 AM "Our next win" why do people think that 7 games into the season after 3 defeats that our season is over ffs. This is Motherwell, we are not going to win every game, a few bad results and its "has AJ lost the dressing room", hes "never played football" so he cant manage BS. Folk need to dry their pants and calm down, yes the team has issues that need addressed but im sure the management team will sort it out znd find the right balance for the team. With all the injuries we've had AJ has neer had the luxury of a full squad to pick from, so going forward that should ease. 3

Even for Motherwell fans, this (over)reaction has totally bewildered me. We have no devine right to turn up and win games/finish top 6 every year. Yes, things have went sideways a bit in recent games, but this is just off the scale. I knew that last year would probably be a one off, but a lot of so called fans think we`d just carry on in the same veign of form and style of football. Reality check. It ain`t happening. As long as we can get back to playing an attractive style of attacking football, I`ll be happy. We still have a few players to come back who will walk in to the starting 11 and hopefully, some sembelance of what we`ve been used to will be resumed. It is there, remember the winner against Hibs, the opener against Freiburg? This team can play, but we need to get behind them when the chips are down. Some fans would be better suited at Ibrox or Parkhead the way they are going on!

I’m not sure where our next win is coming from. The beauty of this league is, your next win can come from just about anywhere, same as your next defeat. We were flying before our last visit to Dens Park, picked up 1 point from the next 15, then won at Ibrox. Plenty of time to, hopefully, get back on track. Right now, an upturn in performance will be more important than the 3 points against Celtic. We'll see if that happens.

Ahh there it is, that old holier than thou chestnut of the Motherwell faithers. ”don’t criticise the team cos that’s what Old Firm fans do, ride the well rollercoaster with pride” And as usual it is utter nonsense. No one is demanding the manager be sacked just now, no one is saying that we’re getting relegated, they are simply voicing legitimate concerns about the way we have been playing and the manager appearing to be out of his depth. On the same side the phrase 'happy clapper' comes out for folk that are defending the manager and team. Both phrases I hate, its simply folk giving their own views and to be fair on here at least is more mature debate. Other media forums full of right clueless folk. Doubt many folk expect us to get anything against sellik but what we do we expect is a reaction from the players and a line-up that gives us belief. A while away but I would go with Paulsen ( grudgingly) SOD. Jamie KL. Moormann. Williams Fadinger. Levitt Lowry Kanga/Said. mio Posted yesterday at 11:59 AM Report Share Posted yesterday at 11:59 AM It’s still way too early to give a proper opinion on how we are doing imo. Points wise it’s similar to last year at the same time so that can be a slight positive. some of the displays in Europe were excellent and there has been flashes in the league games so far that does give me some hope. Against St Mirren for the first 30 mins was just as good as I’d seen last season, we caved a bit and I think there’s maybe a softness that wasn’t there last year. That softness was shown against Aberdeen and Dundee yesterday for a spell when we lost the first goal. everyone has their view and everyone can moan or happy clap as is our want but I’m still sitting in the middle group of mmmm and I think the vast majority are the same. We would be at least 2 pts better off if keeper had done basics v rangers and Dundee.
FirParkCornerExile Posted yesterday at 01:45 PM Report Share Posted yesterday at 01:45 PM As some of you may know I'm one of the biggest pessimists on the planet when it comes to Motherwell. I've had 55 years of primarily bone crushing disappoint and yes there are some issues. However all but for two absolutely honking goalkeeping errors, which no manager can legislate for , not even Pep Guardiola , we'd have had a point at Ibrox and Dundee. So as much as our form has dipped Id argue had we got a point from both those games, which goalkeeping howlers apart, we'd have got and were sitting 4th on 10 points everyone would be a lot calmer. We are in danger of over analyzing everything and seeing or creating stories that have ZERO basis of fact. For fuck sake everyone take a deep breath and calm down. Having watched us for 55 years I know when to start panicking and 7 games in isn't it.

I disagree asking questions if the manager has lost the dressing room or do players not respect him cos he's never played the game after 7 games is crazy, that is not fair criticisms, that's pure and utter baseless speculation.
wellsince75 Posted yesterday at 02:22 PM Report Share Posted yesterday at 02:22 PM Last 8 games won 1 drew 1 lost 6 conceded 17 scored 6 some of those games were tough eg Europe , Ibrox Points aren’t brilliant on those games . performances also mixed bag . Think the majority are aligned that performances need to pick up . Some players need swapping in and out .

No point looking at European games they will never mean bugger all because we will either play team below our level or way above. The only stats that count are 1 x LC = Lost (shocking and frankly should never have been allowed to happen and 100% on managers shoulders ) 7 x League = Won 2 , Drawn 2 , Lost 3 ... = 8 points but for 2 absolute gifts from the goalkeeper, which no manager would have prevented it would be 7 x League = Won 2 , Drawn 4, Lost 1 ... To read and listen to some of the stuff you'd think we've been outplayed every game we've played. 7 Games last season read 7 x League = Won 1 , Drawn 5 , Lost 1 = 8 Points (and just to calm things down before the onslaught in two weeks time we lost at home to Falkirk in the 8th game) 😁🤣 Performance are not as good as last season and they wont be cos we've lost too many really good players. If you are going to judge us by that benchmark you are permanently going to be disappointed.

We saw that with the 10-day break between the Rangers and Aberdeen games, so the concern is that this slide continues over the next three-week break. In other words, he takes the team even further away from where they were last season, which is exactly what he says he isn’t doing. The evidence to date, however, suggests otherwise.

We played well at Easter Road against a poor Hibs Team and strolled the game against Dundee Utd because they had 10 men . I think our performances have been much of a muchness. I just don't think we are as good as last season and we wont be because we've lost better players than we've recruited. I don't subscribe to the notion we've been garbage and getting worse. I think we are inconsistent during games but the one consistent thing is we have is fuck all threat up front and the manager is not being more adventurous in his team selections and we've lost two game by literally putting the ball in the net for the opposition.
