When you compare to say Naismith or Docherty who have only managed 60-90 games and had win records of 30-40% I can see why SK has been offered the role. In essence no worse than McInnes who's been pretty good for them. Also aligns with their general playing style. This is what I struggle to understand in our game. It is now heavily dominated by analysts and statisticians and yet despite this people will blindly ignore the facts in favour of opinion. I don't know how McIness has been able to forge the reputation he has. His Kilmarnock spell was far from exceptional and Kettlewell has matched him if not bettered him in terms of actual performance and yet Kettlewell is perceived as the the pound shop McIness. I don't get it.

Kmcalpin
Given Michael Wimmer's comments, it's highly likely that the club knew about his concerns some weeks ago. That being the case you'd imagine that the Directors would have started thinking about a new manager a wee while ago.

mfc
I wouldn't be surprised when wimmer left that part of the agreement was that ahmet would stay on to oversee any day to day stuff until we appoint a new manager and he would then join wimmer.hopefully the club has someone in mind and can get a deal done soon and we don't waste our time holding interviews with the likes of naismith and docherty.
Toxteth O'Grady
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cwy75nj7lkko Quote Wimmer says son's face 'was beaming with joy' after Well exit Michael Wimmer has moved close to his Bavarian roots from Motherwell Published 1 hour ago Michael Wimmer says his son's face "was beaming with joy" when he decided to leave Motherwell and return to Germany as Jahn Regensburg head coach having made family "my top priority". The 44-year-old shocked the Scottish Premiership club by exiting after only 12 games in charge. Motherwell "very reluctantly negotiated a compensation package" with the German club after Wimmer cited "major family issues" for his desire to leave. Wimmer expressed himself "thrilled" and "excited" to join the club relegated to Germany's third tier on a contract until 2027. "My family is, of course, very happy too," he told his new club's website. "Things have now developed to the point where I would like to return to Germany. "The fact that it has now become so close to home is, of course, fantastic. When it was finally finalised on Friday, my son was beaming with joy – the look on his face is incomparable. "That convinced me once again that it was the perfect decision." Wimmer had taken over at Fir Park from Stuart Kettlewell, who has this week been named Kilmarnock manager, and steered Motherwell clear of relegation. "I had a fantastic time in Scotland, sportingly speaking," he said. "With four games to go, we retained the league place and were able to beat Glasgow Rangers at the famous Ibrox Stadium. "Besides sport, family is also a part of my life. They are my top priority." Jahn sports director Achim Beierlorzer revealed that he knew Wimmer before he "reconnected" with him after the club decided they needed "a fresh start" under a new head coach. He said it was "an additional positive" that Wimmer was from the Eastern Bavarian region and therefore knew the club well. Wimmer was speaking as Motherwell announced the signing of Austrian midfielder Lukas Fadinger after the 24-year-old left Rheindorf Altach in his country's top flight. Fadinger, who has signed a two-year contract, told the Premiership club's website that negotiations had been ongoing "for a couple of months". Having started his career with Sturm Graz, he had a spell with Lafnitz in the second tier before returning to the top flight with Hartberg then two seasons with Rheindorf. Fadinger made 61 appearances overall - 26 last season, 13 of them starts, as they narrowly avoided relegation having finished bottom at the end of the regular season before overtaking Austria Klagenfurt after the league split. robsterwood
One of the main questions asked at interviews is about being commited to stay long term and if family moving over. Looks like he's wanted back in Bavaria for a while

I would think its more likely that the club have asked Ahmet to stay on until a replacement is found. He and Wimmer have been inseperable for some time. I would imagine he will be off to join him again in due course. Shame. Cause he seemed a really likeable guy and a good foil for the manager. Kmcalpin
26 minutes ago, grizzlyg said: Really good Interview from the chairman. Don't think there is much more we could have done. Ahmet happy to stay so see what happens there Yes, it was. It answered many, if not all, of our questions. It seems we're looking for much the same qualites in a manager as we did before which is encourging. The issue of family ties was discussed with MW as part of due diligence, but clearly that changed and there wasn't much we could do about that. Comforting to know that the club is ticking over nicely before the window opens on 12 June and pre season preparations are being made. That will ease a few concerns. No superiority complex, nor cryptic style. Just a loathing of some who think their £5 monthly sub correlates with knowing every decision or move the club makes.
